The progress of filming our movie opener has been both exciting and challenging. From the initial planning stages to the actual production, every step has been a learning experience. We started with brainstorming sessions to develop the concept and storyline, outlining the key scenes and characters that would shape our opener. As we moved into the filming phase, we encountered many hurdles, such as scheduling conflicts and weather issues. Despite these challenges, we remained committed to bringing our vision to life and adapted our plans accordingly. We carefully selected filming locations that not only fit our story but also provided the necessary support, such as Amanda's house and a local park. During the filming process, we focused on capturing performances from our actress (Amanda and I) and paying attention to detail in each shot. Finding the perfect font for the opener, which shows the director, producer, actresses, and other essential credits, proved to be a challenging task that required careful consideration. We knew the importance of selecting a font that not only captured the aesthetic and tone of our movie opener but also conveyed professionalism and sophistication. However, looking at the variety of available fonts, narrowing down the options to find the ideal one was not easy. We looked at various fonts and design resources, experimenting with different styles and sizes to find a font that worked with the overall theme and mood of our project. Despite the challenge, our research paid off when we finally found the perfect font that aligned with our vision for the opener.  Its clean lines and distinctive features made it an ideal choice for showcasing the credits in a visually appealing and impactful way. Unfortunately, we lost three filmed scenes due to a technical issue with transferring them to my laptop which caused a setback in the production process. This unexpected challenge disrupted our workflow and required us to invest additional time and effort into refilming and re-editing the affected scenes. First, discovering that the scenes hadn't transferred properly came as a shock and disappointment. We had invested considerable time and energy into capturing those scenes, and losing them meant having to recreate the performances and settings from scratch. This setback caused frustration and stress as we struggled finishing our project by the due date.  However, faced with this setback, we continued to work and film. We quickly realized we needed to reshoot the lost scenes, aiming to recreate the original vision while also striving to improve upon the previous takes. Finding music that is both copyright-free and suitable for our movie opener has posed a significant challenge. We understand the importance of selecting the right music to enhance the mood, tone, and overall impact of our project, but navigating copyright laws adds an extra layer of difficulty. One of the main challenges is finding music that not only complements the visuals but also aligns with the theme and message of our movie opener. We need music that sets the right atmosphere and creates the appropriate emotions without interfering on copyright laws. This means looking through extensive libraries of royalty-free music and soundtracks to find the perfect match—a process that can be time-consuming and overwhelming. With a major movie production budget in my hands, I would definitely take advantage of the opportunity to elevate every aspect of my project. Here's what I would do differently: I would hire a team of experienced and talented actors to bring the characters to life. Along with the main cast, I would also invest in recruiting a large pool of background actors to create rich and vibrant scenes. To ensure authenticity and immerse the audience in the intended time period, I would collaborate with top costume designers to craft wardrobe choices that reflect the 90's to early 2000's era. Using YouTube videos as a resource to learn how to edit on iMovie was the best decision for both Amanda and I. YouTube is has a treasure of tutorials and guides on topics, including video editing software like iMovie. By using these online resources, I was able to access a lot of information and step-by-step instructions to your my needs and skill levels. Watching YouTube tutorials allowed me to learn at my own pace and on my own schedule, providing a flexible and convenient way to get new editing techniques and skills. When I needed guidance on basic editing functions or more advanced features, there were many tutorials available to address my specific questions and challenges. Also, learning from YouTube videos offered a hands-on and visual approach to mastering iMovie.  Originally, our plan for filming included capturing scenes at the beach, aiming to utilize its natural beauty and serene atmosphere to enhance the visual storytelling of our project. However, as often happens with outdoor shoots, we encountered challenges related to weather conditions and time constraints. Unpredictable weather patterns and limited daylight hours made it impractical to proceed with filming at the beach as initially planned. In response to these challenges, we made the decision to adapt our filming locations to ensure that we could continue making progress on our project. In our AICE media project, we used a variety of camera shots and angles to enhance the storytelling and create deeper meaning within our film. One of the key techniques we utilized was the mid shot, which allowed us to frame our characters from the waist up, providing a balance between showing their expressions and their surroundings. This shot was particularly effective during moments of character interaction, as it helped to convey emotions and establish connections between the characters. Furthermore, we experimented with unconventional angles such as ground level shots to offer unique perspectives and add visual interest to our project.  The editing process for our project involved a significant amount of time and effort. Amanda primarily handled the editing tasks because of her advanced skills in this area, while I played a supporting role by assisting with music selection and transferring clips to the computer for editing in iMovie. Amanda dedicated about 3 to 4 hours to the editing process, precisely refining the footage to achieve the desired look and feel for our project. Her expertise and attention to detail were crucial in shaping the final outcome of our film. In addition to the indoor scenes filmed at Amanda's house, we also went to a park to capture footage for a specific scene. This additional filming allowed us to enrich the visual storytelling and add depth to our film. On our second day of shooting, we focused on filming the scenes set in the room and in the car at the sunrise. We were at Amanda's house, where she plays the character Alex. It was just Amanda and me working together in her house and using her car. One of the challenges we encountered was getting the angles right to capture the shots we needed. We had to experiment with different camera positions to find the best angles for each scene. Also, creating the perfect lighting needed to capture the time in the scene. Additionally, ensuring that all the clips transitioned smoothly was crucial for maintaining continuity in the story. Despite the challenges, we managed to capture some great footage that helped bring our story to life. In our film, we're representing two girls who fall in love but they are best friends and one is moving away. Each with their own unique personalities. When it comes to fairness and stereotypes, we're striving to depict these characters as real and relatable individuals, rather than relying on clichés or stereotypes often associated with LGBTQ+ characters. Our goal is to challenge traditional representations by portraying a diverse range of personalities within the LGBTQ+ community. By showing that love knows no bounds and can exist between people with different backgrounds and personalities, we're challenging stereotypes and promoting inclusivity. As for improvements, we're constantly evaluating our characters to ensure they're portrayed authentically and respectfully.  Filming for our  project on a tight budget can be really tough and frustrating. We often don't have enough money to get all the fancy equipment or hire professional help. This means we have to get creative and work with what we've got, which isn't always easy. We might struggle with finding good locations that fit our story because we can't afford to rent them. Also, without proper lighting equipment, our shots might not look as good as we want them to. Sometimes, we have to rely on natural light, which can be unpredictable and might not always give us the look we're going for. Editing can be a pain too. We might not have access to expensive editing software, so we have to make do with what's available for free or cheap. This can limit our options and make it harder to achieve the effects we want. So far, working with my partner has been a very good experience. We've been tackling our project together, and I've got to say, it's been going pretty well. Both of us have been putting in equal effort and getting stuff done. Whether it's brainstorming ideas or editing footage, we're both right there, putting in the work. It feels good to know that we're both pulling our weight and working together as a team. Overall, I'd say our group dynamics are solid, and we're making great progress on our project! Setting shifted from a bright and sunny beach day to a sunrise in a nice park due to weather constraints. We also added a close up text scene to enhance storytelling and provide deeper insight into the protagonist's thoughts and emotions. Adjusted camera angles and effects to capture the mood of the sunny day setting, focusing on close-up shots and slow pans to evoke a sense of introspection and contemplation. Incorporated sounds of texting, cars, and doors ambiance to create atmosphere and immerse the audience in the scene. Modified the ending to leave room for intrigue and anticipation, hinting at the protagonist's journey without revealing too much.

Filming at the beach for our AICE media studies project sounds like a dream, right? Well, let me tell you, it's not. First off, there is people everywhere. It's like the whole world decided to take a trip to the beach on the same day we're filming. They're walking around, playing games, and sometimes even photobombing our shots.  Then there's the lighting. While the sun is shining, it can be very annoying. One minute, it's too bright, washing out our faces. The next, it's hiding behind a cloud, making everything look dull. And don't even get me started on trying to film during golden hour when the sun's setting. It's beautiful, but it's a race against time to get the perfect shot before the light disappears. And as if that wasn't enough, we've got to deal with the weather. One minute it's clear skies, the next, clouds roll in and then there is rain. And let me tell you, sand blowing everywhere isn't exactly ideal for our equip...
