Sound :)

Image
As me and my partner embark on the journey of editing the sound for our project, it's crucial to establish a clear process to ensure the final product resonates with our audience. In our case, Amanda took charge of the editing process, meticulously refining the audio elements to enhance the overall viewing experience. Utilizing the user-friendly interface of iMovie, we were able to streamline our workflow and focus on the creative aspects of sound design. Amanda's expertise in audio editing brought depth and clarity to the project, ensuring that every sound bite and ambient noise contributed to the narrative cohesively. When it comes to choosing between diegetic and non-diegetic sound, we made deliberate decisions based on the emotional impact we aimed to achieve. Diegetic sounds, those originating from within the story's world, were strategically incorporated to immerse the audience in the film's environment, heightening realism and engagement. Conversely, non-diegetic...

Day 1 of shooting!!

Image
On my first day of filming, excitement and nerves were in the air. My partner and I were setting up equipment, adjusting lighting, and ensuring everything was in place for the day's shoot. As actors, we went through rehearsals, blocking scenes, and familiarizing ourselves with our characters' motivations and relationships. Sound and video setup went smoothly for the most part, although there were some initial technical glitches that were quickly resolved by Amanda (my partner). Once we got into the flow of things, both the sound and video captured the essence of the scenes beautifully. Despite our best efforts, there were a few scenes that required reshoots. This could be due to technical issues, performance nuances, or simply because the weather and location was not giving the correct mood and we wanted to capture a different angle. Reshoots are a normal part of the filmmaking process and are often necessary to ensure the final product meets the creative vision. Now, with the ...

Borrowing Equipment from Beacon TV!

Image
For our upcoming short film project, we've decided to borrow some essential equipment from BECON TV to ensure professional quality in our production. Firstly, we'll be acquiring a high-definition camera rig, possibly a model from their latest inventory, such as a Canon EOS C300 or a Sony FS7. These cameras offer superb image quality, flexibility in shooting options, and compatibility with various lenses, allowing us to capture our scenes with the visual clarity and depth necessary for our narrative. Smooth and steady camera movement adds polish to our cinematography, enhancing the overall viewing experience. We'll be borrowing tripods and stabilizers from BECON TV to achieve professional-grade stability in our shots, whether we're filming static scenes or dynamic tracking shots. To achieve the desired visual aesthetics and focal lengths for different shots, we'll be borrowing a set of premium lenses from BECON TV. These lenses allow for creative flexibility, whether...

Supporting Characters!

Image
Hello! Hello! Today I will be blogging about my supporting characters in my film opener!  In the coming of age short film, Sam serves as a significant supporting character who plays a pivotal role in Alex's journey. Physically, Sam is depicted as having long, dark, straight hair, which not only distinguishes her but also symbolizes her grounded nature and stability. Her costuming often reflects a mix of vintage and contemporary styles, suggesting a blend of nostalgia and modernity in her personality. Props associated with Sam might include items like a well-loved journal or a camera, signifying her introspective nature and her penchant for capturing moments. Personality-wise, Sam is portrayed as empathetic, introspective, and nurturing. She possesses a calm demeanor and a gentle communication style, often providing a sense of solace and understanding to Alex during pivotal moments of self-discovery. Sam's mental state is characterized by a sense of inner strength and resilience...

Color in my Project!

Image
In the starting scene of our coming-of-age film, color is a a urgent part in establishing the vibe and conveying fundamental feelings. Drawing from color theory, we utilize a muted palette of earthy tones and pastel hues to lay out a feeling of innocence and nostalgia. The idyllic yet uncertain journey of adolescence is represented by the soft, dreamlike landscapes and are awash in gentle shades of green and blue. Filters are carefully applied to improve the glow and closeness of the scenes, projecting an image of golden hour and incorporating intimacy and closeness. Costuming takes action, with characters decorated in soft, neutral tones that mix with the normal environmental elements, mirroring their journey towards self-discovery and belonging.  Also, the essential utilization of color inspires explicit feelings and messages inside the crowd. As the protagonist explores the challenges of growing up, changes in growing and changes in color saturation. Neutral tones convey ideas o...

Main Character Analysis!

Hello everyone! Today I will be describing the two main characters in my project, Alex.  Alex is an average height girl with sharp features and piercing brown eyes. Her dark curly hair is often tousled, giving them a slightly disheveled appearance that hints at their unconventional nature. She has an athletic build, suggesting physical prowess and agility. Her posture is confident, but there's a hint of guardedness in her demeanor, reflecting a complex inner world. Alex's wardrobe is minimalist yet carefully curated. She often wears earthy muted colors like sage green  and navy blue, which convey a sense of mystery and sophistication. Her attire consists of well-fitted shirts and hoodies, slim-cut corduroy pants or cargos, and converse or Nike Jordan's, reflecting a blend of practicality and style. Alex also wears a distinctive accessory—a silver 111 necklace and a blue small promise ring on her left ring finger.  In terms of props, Alex is rarely seen without their...
